What to wear to School Events, Home Games, Homecoming, and other college events.
-
It’s always good to put your best foot forward,
which is why I think it’s a great idea to always dress up a little bit for
events on campus. You never know who you are going see or are going meet. For
sports games you should always show up to represent your team. Where school
gear to show your support and school spirit. You should dress comfortably for these
events so jeans are a must. But since your outfit is more casual do up your
makeup a little bit. Add that winged out eyeliner and swipe on your favorite
lip gloss. Little touches like that will keep you photo ready and prepared for
any after game events or parties.
-
When it comes to school sponsored events like a
comedy show, concert, or even a carnival you should defiantly dress for the
occasion. For day time events casual and comfortable is the way to go but also
chic. Wear shorts but cotton ones and pair it with a sleeveless collared button
down. Throw on a pair of flat, strappy sandals, some shades and throw your hair
in a bun and you are sure to be a knock out. For night time event try to show
out a little bit. After all dressing up fun, so you should have fun with it!
Throw on some dark skinnies, that sleeveless button down again, some wedges (not
to tall!), a shiny, skinny belt and let your hair down. Have fun with your
makeup and you are sure to look awesome for the night.
-
Homecoming is supposed to be a night to
remember. So dress up in a dress you will never forget! College homecoming is
not high school homecoming so leave the poufy dresses at home. Go for a dress
you wouldn’t mind wearing to a club but a nice club. Like the ones in Miami. Sequins
and sparkles don’t have to go out the door as long as they adorn your dress with
class not trash. Try to keep things sophisticated but comfy. Think Chic! That
is all you need to know ;).

Geek Chic Make up and Beauty Tips 101
-
Being a college student you learn that a little
bit goes a long way. From a pack of Roman Noodles for dinner, to that last cup
of laundry detergent. Even makeup and beauty take on the concept of simplicity.
The best way to go is to show your natural beauty. Highlight those gorgeous
features I know you all have ;). Some of my favorite beauty inspiration comes
from Lauren Conrad. She really understands that a little goes a long way. With
her effortless cat eye liner and natural makeup look, this is perfect for the
“everyday college student” look. Add foundation, powder, and a light blush and
you’re good to go. You can take this look from day to night by simply adding
some dark eye shadow right below the crease (but not too dark), and add a
lighter shade to your crease. End things with the lightest color to highlight
your brow bone. And a darker lip gloss or lipstick to the lips (again not too
dark, we are still going for a natural look). With a change of clothes you will
be all set for a well deserved night out after a day filled with classes.
-
Another tip to touch up your hair on one of
those greasy bed head days. Dab bay powder into your hair and work it through
the roots until it is no longer visible. This has the same effect as dry
shampoo but works a lot more efficiently in my opinion. Brush or comb your hair
and you are all done!

Chic Pieces that go with school style!

For this week’s Celebrity style log I want to
take a moment to recognize Miley Cyrus for her incredible sense of style. Her passion
for fashion peeked, in my opinion, before all of her twerking on stage
started. Right before she changed her
hairdo into her infamous pixie cut. She really made simple yet timeless pieces
look brand new when she worked the combat boots, striped crop tops, chambray
shirts and jean shorts. She has been my style inspiration since the summer and
her influence has carried on all the way into winter. Miley this blog goes out
to you ;)!!!!

Great pieces to wear when you have to dress in business attire!
-Now
that we are in college we have a lot more opportunities come up where we have
to dress in business wear. Such as interviews, campus events, etc. This can be
a little intimidating for some college girls who haven’t had the opportunity to
dress up in business wear yet. But don’t stress I have some key pieces that
will keep you set for the rest of the year.
1.) You are going to need good pair of slacks. NOTHING FORM FITTING! They should come up a little higher on the waist and then fall down nicely when you wear them.
2.) A good blazer is essential for any women’s wardrobe. Make sure it fits you nicely. Not too big to where it overwhelms you and not too tight to where it starts to look like a blazer you would wear on a night out.
3.) Dress shirts will be your best friends from now on. They can go from casual to formal will the simple tuck of the shirt or the addition of a blazer. A simple white shirt will suffice for most any occasion but it doesn’t hurt to spice it up and add some color to your outfit!
4.) The last and final thing that you need is a good pair of closed toed heels that have a small heel. Make sure these are comfortable because you are going to be wearing them an awful lot. Another great thing to have is a nice formal dress or a pencil skirt that you can pull on and wear for any last minute occasions :).

Casual Wear Wednesdays
-
Between studying, going to class, and hanging out
with your friends at College there is barley any time to pick out an outfit for
the day. Half the time you are up all night studying and you have to roll out
of bed to make it to class on time. So you throw on the comfiest and easiest thing
that’s in reach. Which usually means you end up going to class in some missed matched
sweats or the shirt u wear wearing the night before. Both are terrible options.
Growing up means you have to start TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF BY YOURSELF. Meaning
you have to learn to take pride in how you present yourself and the way that
you dress. A
nice outfit can change your whole outlook on the day for the better. So here are a few tips to help avoid those sleepless nights, classroom
walks of shame outfits.
-
1. Pick
out your outfit the night before. This may sound old school but it really does help
you get ready faster in the mornings. There is no decision making needed. All
you have to do is put on what you laid out the night before and head to class.
-
2. A
go to outfit for when you have no idea what
to wear is yoga pants, a t-shirt, keds, or sneakers that look similar to keds,
and sunglasses. No one will be able to see that you were up all night and you
know have motivation to go to the gym all in one outfit ;).
-
3. When
you have time to put a little more effort into your outfit a basic outfit that always looks good is dark wash
skinny jeans, a flowy, colorful button up, and a pair of strappy sandals. To
add a little extra touch to your outfit put on a pair of studs. Studs will
always make an outfit ;).
These simple tips will get you through the school week with
ease!

Geek Chic Tip #2: How to wear your letters proudly!
-
College is the time to try new things and to get
involved in different clubs and organizations. For a lot of us girls that means
joining a sorority. After recruitment and that incredibly long new member
process it
is a privilege to be able to wear your letters proudly. There are so
many great ways to show off your excitement for becoming a new sister. Stitched
lettered shirts are at the top of the list. Long sleeved and short sleeved. They are a staple in any sorority girl’s
closet. A hooded sweatshirt, a regular sweat shirt, a cardigan or even a half
zip jacket with your letters on it is also an awesome clothing choice that you
will be able to keep for years to come. Some websites like Marley Lilly even
have options for engraved jackets and shirts where you can get your letters stitched
on and even your initials. Don’t forget about those shirts you get from sorority
events. Those pieces will be great for lounge wear and going to the gym. Throw
on a pair of yoga capris, some colorful keds and you’ll be all set J
. A great way to finish an outfit is to add the classic sorority girl bow. The
trick is to make sure it’s not too big so you are not left looking like a grown
child. Try using the bow to pull your bangs back just above the nape of the
neck as if you were going for an Arianna Grande style. It looks simple yet classic. If bows are not
your thing pearls probably are. Pearls add a sense of sophistication to any
outfit in a snap! For a more casual outfit like stitched lettered shirts with skinny
jeans and heels for, say a tabling event. Take a long strand of pearls and knot
it at the middle of where it rests while it lays on your shirt. This will
modify your outfit and make it look more casual instead of dressy, which is the
exact look you were going for. But make sure you are using a long strand of
pearls when you are trying this look out. Some great places to find Greek clothing
for good prices is SomethingGreek.com and LetterMeGreek.com where you can order
iron on letters for around $6 for three letters plus their backings. They look
great and they a fraction of the price compared to the usual prices for a stitched
lettered shirt. Just grab some simple V-neck tees from your local craft store
or even Forever 21 and you are good to go. With all of these tips and tricks
you also need to remember that you are always wearing your invisible letters. Everywhere
you go from now on people will recognize you for your organization. So you should
always present yourself with the upmost respect possible. As Coco Channel said “A
girl should be two things, classy and fabulous.”

Geek Chic Tip #1: Leggings are never to be worn as pants!
-
One thing that really irks me is the fact the
some individuals believe that leggings are a form of pants. This thin materialed,
piece of clothing is by no means a pair of pants. Leggings can be very unflattering
and can produce the dreadful camel toe. So ladies please refrain from wearing
these at ALL TIMES! They do not provide the coverage or the support that a good
pair of jeans provides. Unless you are taking a ballet class I should not see
you on a college campus wearing leggings. I must admit though that they are extremely
comfortable and work great as an accent piece for outfits wear a dress is a
little bit shorter than fingertip length. But a good alternative for leggings
are yoga pants which for the most part provide enough coverage and support that
a pair of jeans would. You can even find pairs that mimic the look of a pair of
leggings but do so much more good for your outfit ;).

An
essential on a college campus are rain boots! Whether you
are rushing to class or are simply in dire need for some food rain boots will
help you get to both without ruining you favorite pair of flats in the rain. Rain
boots are incredibly cute and comfortable and they come in multitudes of colors
and patterns that will fit your personality perfectly. A simple neutral colored
pair will go with everything, such as a black, brown, and even a navy blue. But
if you are a little more daring go for a floral patterned pair or a brightly
hued one. Wear them with jeans, yoga pants, or even shorts but make sure you
take an umbrella with you so the rest of you doesn’t get wet ;). You can get
fairly priced pair from Target for about $30-$40, but if you are looking to
splurge you can get a pair of Hunter rain boots for $75-$140. This is a staple
piece for every college girls wardrobe so don’t hesitate to buy a pair!
